Additional UCB Research
Resources in Aging

Several campus programs offer students and faculty resources to support research in aging. These include:

  • The University Library

Berkeley's library system contains one of the best research collections in the country. The system consists of the Main Library, the Moffitt Undergraduate Library, the Bancroft Library, 23 branch libraries, and many special libraries. The combined holdings of the libraries total more than 7,000,000 volumes.
  • Data Archive and Technical Assistance Program (UC DATA)

UC DATA is part of a consortium of universities belonging to the National Archive of Computerized Data on Aging which supplies data on aging in readily usable technical forms through media such as magnetic tape, diskettes, and electronic network file transfer.

  • Survey Research Center (SRC)

SRC is the principal campus facility for survey research on the Berkeley campus. SRC designs and conducts surveys of selected target populations using techniques which fall within the current paradigm of survey research methodology. SRC maintains a professional staff, and has the flexibility to tailor study designs to specific needs of the particular investigation.

  • Sponsored Projects Office

The Sponsored Projects Office is charged with all administrative liaison activities related to grants and contracts funded through the University by outside sources. This office is frequently referred to as the "contracts and grants" office on other campuses.

  • The Doreen B. Townsend Center for the Humanities

The Doreen B. Townsend Center was established through the bequest of Mrs. Townsend in 1987. Its program and services, some of which address topics in aging, promote research, teaching and discussion throughout the humanities and related interpretive sciences at Berkeley.
