After ISEEES-sponsored grants, opportunities are listed alphabetically

ISEEES
ISEEES Travel Grants provide limited travel support for ISEEES-affiliated
graduate students. Awards up to $400 are made to those presenting a paper
at a meeting of a recognized scholarly organization. Awards are made on
a first-come, first-served basis, and only those who did not receive an
ISEEES grant in the past two AYs are eligible. To apply send request with
budget.

The Drago and Danica Kosovac Prize is awarded for an outstanding
senior or honors thesis in the social sciences or humanities that researches
some aspect of Serbian culture or history. Cal undergrads are eligible
to apply. The application includes submission of the thesis and two letters
of recommendation. No electronic or faxed applications will be accepted.

Peter N. Kujachich Endowment in Serbian and
Montenegrin Studies offers awards of approximately $10,000 for
2008-09 to faculty and/or graduate student projects that focus on the
experience of the Serbian and Montenegrin peoples. Deadline: March

Hertelendy Graduate Fellowship in Hungarian Studies
provides partial support (tuition/stipend) in 2008-9 to UC Berkeley-enrolled
grad students working in Hungarian studies and/or US-Hungarian or European
(including EU)-Hungarian relations. Applicants may be of any nationality
and citizenship, but must be US residents at the time of application,
and must plan to pursue a career in the US. Fields of study, focusing
on Hungarian/US, Hungarian/Europe (or EU)-Hungarian Studies within the
fields of history, language, culture, arts, society, politics, and/or
Hungarian institutions are acceptable. No electronic or faxed proposals

Collegium Budapest
Institute for Advanced Study Junior Fellowships
offers 7500 euro/5 mos; 12,500 euro/ academic year for research
in Central and Eastern Europe. The preferred areas of study are the
following: European studies, communication and social networks, theoretical
biology, theoretical finance, political economics, history, and anthropology.

Coordinating Council for Women in History
CCWH Catherine Prelinger Award is a $20,000
award to a scholar with a Ph.D. or A.B.D. who has not followed a traditional
path through secondary and higher education and whose work has contributed

Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Sciences (SVU)
Dr. Joseph Hasek Student Awards in the
amount of $250 are available for graduate and undergraduate papers dealing
with Czech and Slovak issues. The paper must be submitted in triplicate
and have been written for an undergraduate or graduate course during
the current academic year. Chapters of theses or dissertations are not
admissible. The paper must be for the professor in whose class it was
presented, accompanied by the professor's recommendation. Deadline:

Indiana University
The Indiana University European Union Center of Excellence
is offering €2000 graduate fellowships for summer study of the
following EU and EU-candidate languages at the Indiana University Summer
Workshop in Slavic and East European Languages (SWSEEL): Croatian, Czech,
Hungarian, Macedonian, Polish and Romanian. The intensive summer workshop
is equivalent to one year of regular academic language study during
an eight-week summer session: June 13 – August 8. Graduate students
with an interest in issues of applied EU and transatlantic public policy
and those desiring language training before embarking on field research
or a professional internship in the EU are eligible to apply. Deadline:

Russian and East European Center is funding
the Summer Research Lab on Russia & Eastern Europe,
which provides library access and some free housing awards. Fee-based
program, but some free housing awards are available. Summer research
associates receive full library privileges for research during June-August,
while two weeks of programs include a symposium, workshops, lectures,
and films. Applicants must be graduate students, post-docs, or faculty.

Woodrow Wilson Center
East European Studies offers the Junior
Scholars Training Seminar in the Washington, DC area. All domestic
transportation, accommodation and meal costs will be covered by the
sponsors. Applicants must be Ph.D. students at the dissertation level
or those who received a Ph.D. in the past year. Research is open to
any field of East European or Baltic studies, excluding Russia and the

American Historical Association/Library of Congress
J. Franklin Jameson Fellowship in American History offers
a postdoctoral stipend of $5,000 for 2-3 months. These fellowships support
significant scholarly research for one semester in the collections of
the Library of Congress by scholars of history at an early stage in their
careers. Applicants must hold the Ph.D. degree or equivalent; must have
received this degree within the past seven years, and must not have published

Harvard University
Ukrainian Research Institute offers Eugene and
Daymel Shklar Fellowship in Ukrainian Studies—a stipend
of $3,300.00 per month plus the cost of direct roundtrip travel to Harvard
University. While in residence, Shklar Fellows will use the University's
unique resources to work on significant and innovative projects in Ukrainian
studies, and in general to further their development. The average tenure

Galina Starovoitova Fellowship on Human Rights and Conflict
Resolution
offered by the Kennan Institute pays $1700 per month,
plus transportation costs and a housing allowance. For prominent scholars
and policy makers from the Russian Federation who have successfully bridged
the worlds of ideas and public affairs to advance human rights and conflict
resolution. Provides 9 months of support to postdocs in residence. The
Starovoitova fellow is expected to hold public lectures on themes of conflict
resolution and human rights while conducting research on a specific topic
